The first release of the four Travel Series editions, Macallan Travel Series – Twenties is a modern bottling inspired by a very old Macallan from the 1920s, hence the name ‘Twenties’. Released in 2004, this 40% ABV dram features a stunning box with a little anecdote about ‘The Mystery of Sherry Cask Maturation’ on the side. Spanish oak sherry casks became available after the Second World War, meaning that the distillery could once again use first and second fill sherry casks to give rich, spicy drams with a little peat smoke on the nose and palate. This is a lovely release indeed.
