Embarking on a cruise in the late summer from Savannah is a pleasure as long as you are between tropical storms and depressions. This was just such a start for OCEAN Voyage 22. Seas were slight and the air was warm all the way to Manzanillo, Panama. It was a smooth passage through the Canal but we were held up for inspection and paperwork at the south exit of Balboa.
Jefferson’s Ocean Aged At Sea Voyage 22 Straight Bourbon Whisky Tasting Notes
Nose: Damp oak, orange zest, caramel, no sharp corners,mint, corn cereal
Palate: Corn and vanilla sweetness.
Finish: Medium to long with a touch of beechwood, white peppers, bitter carob, licorice and cocoa.

Founded in 1997, Jefferson’s is the brainchild of Trey Zoeller and his father Chet, a famed bourbon historian. They were continuing a family whiskey tradition that goes back to Trey’s 8th generation grandmother who was arrested in 1799 for the “production and sales of spirituous liquors.” His curious and experimental mindset has allowed him to push the boundaries of bourbon whiskey. Upholding tradition, yet always discovering new possibilities.
