The Blanton’s Red Label is a premium expression, specifically crafted for the Japanese Export Market. It’s aged an additional two years with Mash Bill #2, a mixture of corn, malted barley, and extra rye, before maturing in American White Oak casks. The nose is fruit-forward and sweet, featuring bright hints of cherries mingled with rich caramel, dried oak, honey, and vanilla. On the palate, it offers subtle notes of fennel, licorice, ginseng, dry citrus peel, and cinnamon. The finish is smooth, showcasing a powerful oak influence blended with honey, herbs, and allspice. The history of this remarkable bourbon dates back to 1984 when it was first produced under the guidance of Elmer T. Lee at the George T. Stagg Distillery, now known as Buffalo Trace. The single barrels are aged 6-8 years in the unique metal-clad Warehouse H, which creates temperature fluctuations affecting the whiskey’s aging process.
